Traineeships are jobs that combine work and structured training. A traineeship provides an innovative method for attaining a nationally recognised qualification by providing practical on the job experience as well as an in depth theoretical knowledge.

A trainee must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

Commonwelath Government employer incentives are available. An employer is
eligible for incentives if a trainee:

    • Has no previous qualifications
    • Completed a Certificate II at school or within two years of leaving school
    • Completed a Certificate III or IV more than seven years ago
    • Is unable to use previous qualification/s as they have a disability
    • Is registered as unemployed with Centrelink for more than 12 months.

Note - if a trainee has a degree or diploma from any country at any time, then the
employer will not be eligible for incentives.

There are a range of Government incentives and subsidies available to assist employers.

  • Traineeships are flexible and can be delivered on a full or part time basis

  • Each traineeship program has a nominal term which can be 12 months, 24 months 36 months. If the trainee is employed on a part time basis then the term
    of the traineeship will be extended.
